Bought a new Galaxy in April, have done about 2500 miles so far in it and am loving it so far.

Over the weekend the Service indicator has shown up, saying the car needs servicing in 500 miles. I thought the 1st service wasn't scheduled until 10,000 miles or 1st year?

Any ideas

Have a gander in your service record book - i think it gives shedules in there failing that ring the dealer - i dont think its due til 10k - if thats the case the dealer will re-set the service indicator for you.

Could be that the car was manufactured around a year ago, even though you only got it in April. In which case the service indicator will show as 12 months has nearly passed since it was activated.

This seems like a sensible idea, but why would it be giving a mileage countdown?

From looking at that other link it seems that the 1st service should be 10,000 miles or 1 year

There is a bit in the handbook about how to reset the service indicator.

I haven't got mine with me but think it is a button in the glovebox

yup it seems to answer a lot of questions about services etc, I was gonna suggest a link for it, I posted it previously in another thread something like "ford service schedule". I think you can pay money to get access to other technical info on that ETIS site about all sorts of repairs etc, if you really want to! But the service details bit is free :D

Good point! :D

Ford are obviously averaging 1 years driving out to 10,000 mls (according to the service intervals) which works out at about 27 miles a day, if my maths are right, maybe it figures there are just under 19 days until 1 year is up?!?!?!?! Clutching at straws I know but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it lol :D
